What is GST?
GST means Goods and Service Tax, it was implemented in India from 1st July 2017, even at that time the Prime Minister of India was Narendra Modi. The government had to face a lot of difficulty, so the government of India implemented GST. Earlier, when GST was not implemented in India, at that time there were many types of taxes in India, which the government had to face a lot of difficulties in collecting, but now with the implementation of Goods and Services Tax, the work of the government is also simplified.
GST does not mean that you will have to pay a lot of tax to the government, but it is for your benefit because before the implementation of GST, we had to pay different types of taxes which used to be a lot in total but now only one Due to this type of tax, we also have to read less tax and the government does not have any problem in collecting tax. Earlier some Indian citizens did not pay tax due to high tax but now all Indian people pay the GST easily.And the work of the customer who pays this Goods and Services Tax has also become very easy.

What is the need of GST registration?
If your threshold limit is exceeded then you need GST registration. If you belong to one state and you have to send or order goods from another state then you need GST registration. If you are a businessman and you have an e-commerce company or if you want to open a store, you still need this registration, you cannot apply for e-commerce without the GST registration.
Types of GST
GST is mainly of four types. All these four GST has been implemented by the Indian government in various different sectors by various different functions.
CGST: Central Goods and Services Tax of CGST is a tax under the GST regime that is applicable on intrastate (within the same state) transactions.
SGST: State Goods and Services Tax or SGST is a tax under the GST regime that is applicable on intrastate (within the same state) transactions
IGST: Integrated Goods and Services Tax is a tax under the GST regime that is applied on the interstate (between 2 states) supply of goods & services as well as on imports and exports.
UTGST/UGST: It is the counterpart of State Goods and Services Tax which is levied on the supply of goods & services in the Union Territories of India.
Who should register for GST?
- If you are a goods provider and your turnover exceeds 40 lakhs in a year, then it is mandatory for you to register for GST, if your turnover during this period is less than 40 lakhs, then it is not mandatory for you to get GST registration. In the eastern state of india this limit is 20 lakhs.
- If you are a service provider and your salary is above 20 lakhs in a year then it is mandatory for you to get GST registration but in the eastern state this limit is 10 lakhs.
- If you provide your services and goods in any events or function and you do not have a fixed place of business, then you will have to pay GST tax on the turnover within 90 days. In this, on the turnover up to 20 lakhs in 90 days discount is given, registration is also valid for 90 days.
- If you are a vendor of any e-commerce company like Amazon flipkart, Grofers, Myntra, Meesho, etc., who show their goods, then it is mandatory for you to get GST registration. Even if you have an e-commerce company of your own, it is mandatory for you to get GST registration.
- If you import and export your goods or services outside India, you are required to register for GST.
- Even if you supply your goods or services to others in the name of any company or brand, it is mandatory for you to register for GST. For example- assuming you have taken the franchise of Domino’s Pizza and you are not the owner of Domino’s company, then also you will have to get GST registration mandatory.
- if you come to more than one state of India by providing your goods and services, it is mandatory for you to register for GST. For example- Suppose if you are a resident of Uttar Pradesh and provide your goods and services in Bihar and Uttarakhand, then it is mandatory for you to get GST registration.
- Even if you are a high-profile person and you are the owner of a business, it is mandatory for you to take GST registration, otherwise your business will not be considered legal and your income will be treated as black money.
Process of GST Registration
To do GST Registration on Government Portal, you have to follow the steps given below correctly and carefully:
- When you start the process of doing GST registration, the first thing you need to do is, you have to go to the gst.gov.in website which is the official site of the Indian government, after that you have to click on New Registration For Taxpayers(Normal,TDS,TCS) In this you have to keep in mind that you do not have to click on the other registration.
- After clicking on New Registration, a page will open on which you will see the complete form, you have to fill that form, on that you have to first fill your name, then the name of your state or union territory then your district then you will have to fill your name in it. You have to fill the name of the business, not even your name, then after that you have to fill the PAN card which is for your ID proof, after that you have to fill your mobile number and email id there.After this, in the end you will see a captcha code there, fill that captcha code in the same form.
- In this are asked for mobile number and email id because it will verify via one OTP from you. You have to provide the same mobile number which is linked with your PAN card and bank account and yes you also have to keep in mind that the email id also has to read the same which is your personal email and is also engaged in the bank.
- You have to fill the complete form properly and after that click on the proceed button and after that, you will go to the OTP verification page, there you have to come on the phone number and enter the OTP, after that the email id has come. OTP has to be entered and after that your GST registration will be completed and you will get a separate GST number.
- After the GST registration is successful, a successful e-verified message and email will come on your mobile number and email id but in this you have to keep in mind that you have to fill all the details correctly and all that should be exactly if you fake during the process with mobile number or email ID, then you will not be given GST PIN or GST registration number and your GST registration will be cancelled.
- After completing the process of GST registration created by you, within 15 days, you will be given the GST registration number which is sent to your mobile number and email id.
Who is exempted from GST?
- If you are a farming expert then GST cannot be imposed on you but on the contrary if you produce your own crops like horticulture agriculture floriculture agriculture sericulture then GST will be levied on you.
- If you do dairy farming and produce milk then you will not be charged any GST.
Documents required for GST registration
- Now we talk about which documents you should have while doing GST registration. First of all you should have a PAN card which comes by post, if you have e-pan card then it is not considered legal and keep in mind that all your bank accounts and mobile number, email id should also be linked in that PAN card.
- After this, you must have a mobile number because when registration will be done on your mobile number, then an OTP will come on it and keep in mind that that mobile number should be linked to your PAN card and bank account if your mobile number is not linked to PAN card. OTP will not be generated and your mobile number will not receive otp, hence your GST registration will not happen.
- You should also have an email id, that email id should be your own and that email id should be linked in your government document because if you give any fake email id in it, then your GST registration will not be done and no OTP will be sent on your email id.
- You should also have Aadhar card because when your GST registration is successful then you are asked for photo of both sides of Aadhar card. Aadhar card is your real identity and you are sometimes asked for two passport size photographs.
- After this, you should have a current bank account or a savings bank account. If you have a savings bank account, then after your GST registration, you are asked for the first two photos of which savings account passbook which is also required to be verified by them. It is believed that this is a completely legal process, you can give it to them without fear. In this, if you verify your address with the option of rent agreement, then in this you will have to properly sign the rent agreement with your landlord.
- After this, if you are a good provider then you will have to proide the address of your house, you can proide electricity bill, rent agreement for your home address, anything for verification. The details will have to be filled properly, whatever is asked by you in registration form. If you do not have any of these documents, you will not be eligible for GST registraion.
- If you are a service provider, then you may also have to give the address of the office, either you have filled the address of that office properly through home or you can verify the electricity bill, rent agreement of your office etc. You can show or send, in this you have to keep in mind that your office address must be absolutely correct, otherwise your GST registration can be canceled.
- If you do not have your house in your name and you want to give its address, then you will have to take a consent form from the owner of that house and have to get their signature on it. The owner of that house can be your father or any of your relatives. Whoever it is, you will have to take a consent letter from them and which must be signed by the owner.
- If you want to keep an authorized person in your business or have already kept you, then you will also have to take ID proof of that person like PAN card and Aadhar card and two passport size photographs etc.
